Norway - June 2009 - The Wedding

In June, Darin and I visited Norway to attend the wedding of Hanne and Bent. More than 15 years ago, Hanne lived in Denver with Darin's family during her foreign exchange program. Since then, both families have remained close and visited the other. Hanne, Bent and Hanne's parents, Tor Arne and Unni, came to our wedding in 2007.

Hanne and Bent are from two small towns about an hour train ride north of Oslo. During the festivities, we stayed in Hanne's hometown, Brumunddal, which sits on the eastern shore of Norway's largest lake, Mjosa.

Here are Darin and I outside of the reception hall, which was located on an island in Lake Mjosa.

The girls - Me, Nancy, Hanne, Laura, and Kelly

Darin and I during the break in the 4 hours of dinner and toasting -- kind of a "seventh inning stretch."

Another view from the receiption hall taken around 9:00 p.m. The sun set -- just barely below the horizon - at about 10:45 p.m. that night.

And then came the dancing....

Biggest musical surprise of the night? All the Dolly Parton songs played.
